Airdrie assistant manager Colin Cameron exits Diamonds amid cost-cutting measures

Assistant manager Colin Cameron has left Airdrieonians amid the SPFL shutdown, Lanarkshire Live Sport understands.

The former Scotland cap and Hearts legend had joined Ian Murray’s backroom team in October last year assisting in a positive turnaround in form as the club climbed the League One table.

However, with Scottish football on lockdown the number two is the first to leave the side.

A source at the Diamonds revealed that Cameron had came to a mutual agreement on his exit due to the "current football and economic environment."

Airdrie director of football Stuart Millar previously backed a safety first approach to the  COVID-19 outbreak  but said it could have a lasting impact on the League One title-challengers.

The supremo believed it could have an impact on their budget next term.
