Aircraft returns to Bristol Airport after reporting 'technical problem' on flight to Tenerife

An aircraft has now landed safely at Bristol Airport following a 'technical' fault which occurred whilst the aircraft was on route.

The Embraer 550 Clifton aircraft, which was bound for Tenerife, reported a problem shortly after take-off.

An eyewitness at the airport initially got in contact with Bristol Live.

Sam Taylor said: "I'm a private hire driver at airport. 6 fire trucks on blues just got to airport and the plane I'm waiting for is doing this......what's happening you know."

The aircraft was seen circling the airport on Flightradar24 (Sam Taylor)

According to flight tracker site Flightradar24, the aircraft in question was seen circling the airport a number of times, looking like it was struggling to land.

We contacted a spokesperson from Bristol Airport who released the following statement.

"An Embraer 550 Clifton aircraft shortly after take-off en route to Tenerife reported a technical problem and returned to Bristol Airport.

"Standard procedures were followed throughout and as a precautionary measure emergency services attended.

"The aircraft landed safely at 11.21."

"Bristol Airport remained operational at all times and no disruption to flights or delays for passengers was experienced."

The airport is still operating as normal and according to the website, all arrivals and departures are still operating as scheduled.

Earlier today, passengers were left stuck on the Bristol Airport runway for hours as snow delayed their flight.
