Airbus has responded to the UK Government's decision to drop tariffs against the US over subsidies for aerospace firms.
The EU hit $4bn of US goods with duties of up to 25% in November - in retaliation for illegal state aid given to planemaker Boeing.
The taxes were authorised by the World Trade Organization.
Last year the WTO said the US was justified to retaliate against the EU on $7.5bn worth of goods for support granted to Airbus.
But the tariffs against the US will be suspended in the UK from 1 January - when the current post-Brexit transition period ends.
International Trade Secretary Liz Truss said the UK wanted to find compromise.
She believes this will help ease the route to securing a trade deal with the new US administration.
In response, Airbus, which employs thousands of UK workers at Broughton in North Wales and Filton near Bristol, said: "Airbus was informed of the UK's decision to suspend tariffs on US imports in January 2021, after the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December 2020.
"Airbus' goal remains to find a negotiated settlement to this long-standing dispute to avoid lose-lose tariffs."
Paul Everitt, head of the UK aerospace industry trade group, ADS, said: "We are disappointed the UK has chosen to take unilateral action without securing some reciprocal action to resolve this dispute.
"A negotiated settlement is the best way to achieve a lasting resolution and governments in the UK, Europe and the US must work together to reach this goal."
Liz Truss said: "As an independent trading nation once again, we finally have the ability to shape these tariffs.
"Ultimately, we want to de-escalate the conflict and come to a negotiated settlement so we can deepen our trading relationship with the US and draw a line under all this."
