Airbnb's most popular listing in the world revealed and it's hidden in a forest

Airbnb is filled with some pretty incredible properties, but there's one particular home that's proven to be its most popular listing in the world.

The Mushroom Dome in Aptos, California has consistently been the most visited and popular listing on the holiday rentals website, across all ten years of the company's existence.

The best part is that, with prices at £100 per night, you won't need to break the bank if you want to check it out for yourself! There is high demand though so you'll need to book far in advance if you want to bag a stay).

Hosts Kitty and Michael have been welcoming guests since 2009, when the Mushroom Dome became one of the first Airbnb listings located outside a city.

Since then it has had nearly 1,300 reviews from guests all over the world, and it's not difficult to see what draws visitors to the cosy, 100 sq ft property.

Sleeping up to three guests, the Mushroom Dome is tucked away in the heart of a lush green forest, with 10 acres of land to go exploring.

The dome itself, whose shape resembles that of a mushroom, boasts a spacious loft, bathroom, a kitchen and a large deck for making the most of the outdoors.

Think rustic interiors with wooden beams, cosy blankets and charming furniture.

But there's no roughing it here. The dome comes with plenty of but modern amenities from a fully-functioning kitchen to a 32-inch HD Flat Screen and a DVD player, as well as extra perks from a popcorn machine to a barbecue grill.

Think of it as a step up from glamping!

As for the surroundings? Expect breathtaking Redwood trees which California is renowned for, wildlife spanning from hummingbirds to goats, and heaps of stargazing spots for those unforgettable night-time views.

The cabin boasts a remote location but it's still fairly close to Aptos Village where there are shops and restaurants, while there are two beaches about 10 minutes away too.

Or you can make the 20-minute drive to downtown Santa Cruz for a bit of hustle and bustle in the city.
