A mum was stung after waking in the night to find dozens of wasps crawling over her in a posh Airbnb family rental pad.
Mum Suzy Cross said the angry swarm in the bedroom was “the stuff of nightmares”.
She booked the £400-a-night flat online for a city getaway with her builder husband Stephen, 41, and their four children.
Suzy, 40, a lawyer from Manchester, said: “I could feel something crawling in the sheets. It was super-creepy so I kicked and felt a sharp sting.
"I peeled the covers back and screamed. I turned the light on and they were everywhere, coming from a nest in the corner of the room. All hell broke loose.
“The kids were shrieking and shaking.”
Stephen tried to block them in the main bedroom at the flat in Hoxton, East London, called a “buzzing” spot on the Airbnb listing.
At 2am they hid in a room with Caleb, 13, twins Maisie and Olivia, 11, and McKenzie, 12 next month, but were too scared to sleep.
Pest control were called in the next day but the Cross family buzzed off to a Travelodge.
AirBnb agreed to refund the family for the issues.
A spokesman said: “We were disappointed to hear about this experience and fully refunded the guest at the time.
"More than 2 million people check-in to Airbnb listings each night and while negative experiences are incredibly rare, we work hard to make things right when they do occur.”
