airBaltic launches new service from Dublin Airport to 'beautiful and dynamic city'

airBaltic have announced that they are launching a new service from Dublin Airport.

They will run a four times weekly summer service to Riga and will operate the trip with an Airbus A220-300.

The airline serves over 70 destinations from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius.

airBaltic's destination is one of 23 new routes and services starting at Dublin Airport this summer. 

Speaking about the new route, Dublin Airport Managing Director, Vincent Harrison said: "We are delighted to welcome airBaltic back to Dublin Airport re-establishing the connection between our two capital cities."

He added: “Riga is a beautiful city steeped in history and culture and its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Not only can passengers now fly direct to Riga they can also connect there to a range of destinations such as Tallinn, Vilinius, Russia and the Middle East.

airBaltic Chief Executive Martin Gauss said that he was ecstatic to connect the two cities.

He said: “Riga is a dynamic city and the key business centre of the Baltic states. 

"We are excited to connect Dublin and Riga as it opens up connections not only to Latvia but also to our wider home region with Tallinn and Vilnius as well as many destinations in Scandinavia, the CIS and Middle East.”

As well as this, Dublin Airport is offering two lucky so and sos a chance to win return flights for two from Dublin to the Latvian capital city of Riga with airBaltic.

Sitting on the banks of the Baltic Sea, Riga is described by the Dublin Airport Authority as "the perfect destination for a city break".

They say: "The largest city in the Baltic States but small enough to explore on foot. This vibrant cosmopolitan city boasts some of the most impressive art nouveau architecture in the world, some of the best restaurants in Europe and a great bar scene making it the perfect destination for a city break.
