Air rifle, pistol shooters aim for top spot

TUGHLAKABAD: The hurt of missing out on a medal at the Paris Games has still not healed, but Arjun Babuta is doing everything to leave the disappointment behind.

The shooter, who finished fourth in the men's 10m air rifle event at the 2024 Games, is ready to have a fresh shot at the ISSF World Cup Finals on Tuesday. "I am still in the process of forgetting about Paris. It will still take some time but I am putting my effort into the next cycle now. I am going to enjoy the process of shooting tomorrow without thinking much about the results," Arjun told TOI ahead of his match.

Arjun will have Divyansh Singh Panwar in the men's match, while Tilottama Sen and Sonam Maskar will shoot in the women's category.

Rythm Sangwan, who missed making it to the final in Paris, will also look to redeem herself when she takes the 10m air pistol field in the women's category with Surbhi Rao. In the men's 10m air pistol event, Arjun Cheema along with Varun Tomar will be seen in action.

UK shooters miss out due to visa issue: Three British shooters, including Paris Olympic trap champion Nathan Hales, will miss out on competing at the World Cup Finals due to denial of visa. The British shooters apparently filled out wrong visa application forms that led to the rejection.
