KARNAL: With stubble-burning incidents continuing in Haryana, the air quality of 17 cities and towns in the state deteriorated on Sunday.
Haryana registered 112 incidents of stubble burning across the state on Sunday, taking the overall count this season to 1,925.
According to Central Pollution Control Bureau (CPCB), Faridabad (with AQI 383) was the most polluted in the state, which falls in very poor category.
It was followed by Dharuhera 360, Manesar 355, Bahadurgarh 336, Charkhi Dadri 324, Gurugram 327, Hisar 324, Bhiwani 310, Kaithal 305.
The air quality of eight cities including Sonipat 286, Rohtak 282, Jind 278, Kurukshetra 267, Panipat 254, Sirsa 245, Ambala 222, and Yamunanagar 213, was categorised poor.
According to data, so far, such cases have been reported from 14, out of 22, districts in the state. Of the total cases, around 54% were reported from the paddy-rich belt of Karnal, Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts.
The maximum number of active fire locations have been reported from Kaithal district (517), followed by Kurukshetra (280), Fatehabad (279), Karnal (245), Jind (182), Ambala (163), Yamunanagar (108), Sirsa (49), Hisar (32), Panipat (26), Palwal (25), Sonipat (15), one each from Faridabad and Jhajjar.
