Pollution levels in Motherwell were off the chart following Bonfire Night.

According to readings from the real-time Air Quality Index, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, recorded a reading on Wednesday, November 6, of 155 which is marked as “unhealthy”.

The area showed the highest levels in Lanarkshire and compared with Hamilton which showed a reading of 68.

On November 5, thousands of families packed into Strathclyde Park, Motherwell, to watch North and South Lanarkshire’s annual fireworks display.

This year’s event was themed with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

Various road closures were in place to allow for traffic and pedestrians to access the area.
