Air Force Two has been forced into an emergency landing while carrying US Vice President Mike Pence.
The plane returned to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, New Hampshire, on Tuesday shortly after taking off for Washington DC due to a reported engine issue.
The problem is said to have been potentially caused by a bird strike.
Pence was returning from a campaign event at AutoServ Hangar in neighbouring Gilford.
Along with staff, he is understood to have been transferred to a cargo plane on landing.
CNN White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins tweeted reporters travelling on board with the Vice President were told the plane was turning round after take off "because of an issue with the plane's engine".
Photos show Pence inspecting an engine after touching back down on the runway.
The White House has not immediately responded to a request for comment.
In October 2016, a plane overran a runway at LaGuardia Airport, in Queens, New York, while carrying then-vice presidential candidate Pence.
An investigation found "several failures in close succession" caused the aircraft to finish up in a field of arrestor beds close to a highway.
The Boeing 737-700 charter flight was carrying Republican Pence and 47 others from Fort Dodge, Iowa, and landed in the rain before sliding sideways, though no one was injured.
