Air Balloon pub garden reopens after major refurbishment

A popular pub in Bristol has been showing off its new-and-improved beer garden to customers this week.

Brewery Greene King, which owns The Air Balloon in Filton, said it has made a "significant investment" in the pub, which reopened for outside service on Monday (April 12).

As part of the refurbishment, the outside area of the Gloucester Road North pub has been kitted out with huge umbrellas, a new covered terrace, new lighting and additional seating, providing the "perfect space" to enjoy a few pints and classic pub grub.

General manager Joanne Johnson said: "After such a long period of closure we’re so pleased to be opening our newly renovated garden for guests to enjoy a well-deserved pint, which will hopefully be in the sunshine.

"The Air Balloon is at the heart of the community in Filton, so we are excited to be able to offer an outdoor area where locals can enjoy a drink or meal together after months of being apart."

Air Balloon is offering its full food menu with pub classics including double flame-grilled cheeseburger, hunter's chicken skillet and steak and ale pie.

The pub is operating table service and customers have the option to order and pay via the Greene King app.

Greene King reopened 442 of its managed pubs across England on Monday as more coronavirus restrictions were lifted.

The next loosening of restrictions is due to take place on May 17, when the Government will look to continue easing limits on seeing friends and family wherever possible, allowing people to decide on the appropriate level of risk for their circumstances.

This is also when indoor hospitality will be able to reopen, as well as indoor entertainment venues such as cinemas and children’s play areas.

To make a booking at The Air Balloon, head to the pub's website - all bookings will have their table secured for one hour and 30 minutes.

The pub said: "Please remember that in the event of bad weather we can’t offer you a place in the warm inside until restrictions are lifted so please keep this in mind when booking."
