Emergency services including an air ambulance have arrived on a Merseyside street after a man collapsed this morning.

Ambulance officials confirmed they sent five vehicles including the air ambulance to the scene of the incident in Bootle .

A North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) spokeswoman said the service was called to Spenser Street just before 9am on Monday.

She said two rapid response vehicles, a land ambulance, air ambulance and advanced paramedics were called to reports "someone had collapsed" in the residential street.

The spokeswoman said a male patient had suffered " a medical episode" and has been taken to hospital.

Pictures sent in by an ECHO reader showed the air ambulance parked in a nearby field and ambulance vehicles parked in the street.
