Air ambulance lands on Welsh beach after woman falls onto rocks

An air ambulance helicopter has landed on a Welsh beach after a member of the public fell onto nearby rocks.

Emergency services were called to Castle Beach in Tenby, Pembrokeshire at around 12pm on Thursday.

A Wales Air Ambulance helicopter attended the incident along with a road ambulance, fire crews, coastguard crews and officers from Dyfed-Powys Police.

They were all responding to reports that a woman had fallen onto the rocks between the beach and the Bridge Street and Castle Hill areas.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was placed into the care of paramedics at the scene before being taken to a hospital in Haverfordwest with suspected leg and spinal injuries.

A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called today (March 12) at approximately 12.12pm to reports of a person falling near Castle Hill, Tenby.

"We responded with one emergency ambulance and our crew were supported by Wales Air Ambulance.

"One patient was transported by road to Withybush Hospital.”

The extent of the woman's injuries is not known.
