An air ambulance was scrambled to a Wirral park after a motorbike rider was left with "serious injuries" in a crash this morning.
Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service were called to a crash at the junction of Old Chester Road and Birkett Road in Rock Ferry shortly after 9.30am.
The emergency services receives reports of a crash involving a motorbike and a van - with the rider sustaining serious injuries in the incident.
A silver Aprilia motorcycle and a Vauxhall Combo were involved in the crash, according to a spokesman for Merseyside Police.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed that the rider, a male of unknown age, was rushed to Aintree Hospital this morning.
A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: "He was taken to the nearest major trauma centre".

She said: "We were called at 9.38am to reports of a road traffic collision between a motorbike and a van. We sent an ambulance, the air ambulance also attended, a rapid response vehicle and the senior clincian.
"The patient was taken to hospital via road ambulance after being assessed."

Residents reported seeing the air ambulance landing in Victoria Park this morning, as crews established the safest way to transport the patient to hospital.
The injuries sustained by the rider in the crash are currently unknown, but Merseyside Police confirmed his condition is "serious but not life threatening".
