Air ambulance lands in north Manchester after child involved in crash near primary school

The air ambulance landed in north Manchester this afternoon after a child was involved in a collision near a school.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said they received a 999 call at 3.15pm reporting 'a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian.'

The air ambulance, as well as a road ambulance and two rapid response vehicles all, attended.

An NWAS spokesman confirmed the pedestrian involved was a child.

It is not yet known if anyone has been taken to hospital.

However at this stage it is not believed there are any serious injuries.

Upper Monsall Street in Monsall remains closed by police between Monsall Road and Jocelyn Street, near St Edmund's Primary School.

Transport for Greater Manchester are asking people to avoid the area.

They said: "The Road is closed in both directions between Monsall Road and Jocelyn Street due to a police incident.

"Seek an alternative route."

Stagecoach also said bus services in the area were also being diverted as a result.

"Service 114 will divert via The Gateway and Oldham Road in both directions until further notice" they said.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been approached for comment.
