Air Ambulance lands in Heaton's Iris Brickfield park, responding to 'medical incident'

The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAAS) helicopter landed in Heaton 's Iris Brickfield park on Sunday evening.

GNAAS were responding to reports of a medical incident in the area - and a patient has now been conveyed to hospital by colleagues from the North East Ambulance Servic e (NEAS).

The Air Ambulance was called in shortly after 6.15pm, and arrived on the scene within twenty minutes, medics then assessed and treated the person affected.

No further details about their condition are yet known.

A spokesperson for GNAAS told ChronicleLive: "Our teams were activated at 6.15pm this evening to reports of a medical incident in Heaton. They arrived at 6.34pm.

"They have assessed and treated a patient and the patient has been taken to hospital by the road ambulance team from North East Ambulance Service. Our team has accompanied them."
