Air ambulance lands at scene of crash where woman had to be freed from her car

A woman was rushed to hospital after a crash at a busy junction.

An air ambulance was called to the scene on Oldham Road in Newton Heath, with police and the fire service also attending.

Officers raced to the scene just after 1pm to reports of a collision involving two vehicles.

Firefighters freed the woman from her car.

A badly damaged silver Toyota at the scene appeared to have had its roof cut off.

The crash happened at the junction of Oldham Road and Thorp Road, near GMP headquarters.

Road closures were in place, which were removed at about 3pm.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called just after 1pm today (Saturday 29 May 2021) to Oldham Road, Manchester to a report of a collision involving two vehicles."

They confirmed a woman was taken to hospital, but did not have any further information on her condition.
