Air ambulance lands and police called to concerns for safety of woman in West Kirby

Emergency services arrived in force in a Wirral town centre following concerns for the safety of a woman.

The air ambulance, along with land ambulance crews and police officers, arrived at the scene in West Kirby shortly before 10.45am today.

According to eyewitnesses, a woman was taken out on a stretcher from a flat above a row of shops in Grange Road.

One eyewitness said: "There were two ambulance vehicles, three police vehicles, a police dog car, and three officers standing at the door.

"The air ambulance landed in the West Kirby concourse car park nearby.

"Everyone was concerned - this is a quiet area and to see that many emergency vehicles was scary."

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm officers attended a report of concern for the safety of a woman in Wirral today (Thursday 26 September).

"A report was received of concern for a woman in her 40s at a property on Grange Road. Officers attended just before 10.45am and paramedics also attended.

"The woman was taken by ambulance to hospital for medical treatment.

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 10.41am. The air ambulance, rapid response and Hazard Area Response Team (HART) attended.

"One person was taken to hospital."
