Air ambulance lands and emergency services scramble as woman 'falls into stream'

A woman has been rushed to hospital by air ambulance after 'falling into water' near Bury. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency services response to the incident near Mill Street, in Tottington, earlier today (August 13).

Police and paramedics were reportedly in attendance alongside members of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, while an air ambulance was also called out. Greater Manchester Police says it was called at around 11.25am this morning.

Having attended the scene, officers believe the woman accidentally fell into a stream. After being rescued from the water, the woman has since been taken to hospital.

The extent of her injuries are not currently known. A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 11.25am today (Saturday, August 13 2022) we received a report about the concern of the welfare of an adult female close to Mill Street, Tottington.

"It is believed she accidently fell into the stream and emergency services attended, including mountain rescue, to assist. The severity of the injuries are unclear at this moment as she is being airlifted to hospital for treatment."

North West Ambulance Service and Bolton Mountain Rescue Team have both been approached for comment.
