Air ambulance called to Flamingo Land in Yorkshire after worker suffers leg injury

An air ambulance was called to Flamingo Land in North Yorkshire after a worker suffered a leg injury while working on a ride.

Eyewitnesses told YorkshireLive that a person had become trapped in a roller coaster, believed to be the Dino rollercoaster ride at the theme park in Malton.

Emergency services were called to the are at around 1.20pm on Wednesday, with ambulance crews and North Yorkshire Police arriving first.

An air ambulance was later sent.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "A member of maintenance staff suffered leg injuries while working on a ride.

"The man was airlifted to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Although serious, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The Health and Safety Executive have been informed."

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it had received an emergency call just after 1.20pm this afternoon.

They said in a statement: "Yorkshire Ambulance Service received an emergency call just after 1.20pm this afternoon to an incident involving a man who had been injured at Flamingo Land Resort in North Yorkshire.

"Two ambulances and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene and the patient was flown to hospital for further care."

Yorkshire Air Ambulance said it does not have any information about the incident yet.

Flamingo Land has yet to comment about what has happened.
