Air ambulance attends crash in Ystrad, Rhondda

An air ambulance attended a crash involving a car that is believed to have gone off the road into a house.

Emergency services were called to Gelligaled Road in Ystrad, Rhondda, on Tuesday afternoon following the crash.

According to traffic monitoring system Inrix "a car went off the road into a house" although this hasn't been confirmed by police.

One person has been taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

Pictures posted on social media show the road closed off with police cars, ambulance staff and fire service crews at the scene.

South Wales Police confirmed that the road is now reopened.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "We were called at 4.37pm to an accident on Gelligaled Road.

"A person has been taken away by ambulance and the injuries are unknown.

"The road has been reopened."

The air ambulance was spotted circulating the area very low above houses in Cwmparc and the Bwlch mountain road.

The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that they responded with an air ambulance but it wasn't needed in the end.

A spokeswoman said: "We received a call following reports of a one-vehicle RTC. The patient has been taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital."

Traffic is building in the area due to the crash affecting bus services 120 and 130.
