A big police presence and air ambulance were at the scene to take the man to hospital but the nature of his injuries has yet to be confirmed. There is said to be concern for his care.

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told the ECHO the owner of the property "was not present" when the incident happened and they were unsure if anyone else was inside at the time.

They claim the property now has "smashed windows and doors" and that "there is blood at the scene" due to an injury.

Photos show an air ambulance landing in a nearby park, Derby Park, and police and ambulance staff in the entry behind a property where a person was being treated.

Neighbours and passing residents can also be seen gathering on the road where police cars and ambulance vehicles were parked.

The ECHO believes that an ambulance has now left the scene escorted by police. An air ambulance was seen leaving the area with residents watching across the park

Merseyside Police said: "We were called just after 11.47am to reports of a male throwing bricks at an address.

"The male has been throwing items including bricks at the address and there has been an undisclosed/unknown injury.

"It appears the male initially reported as throwing items at the windows is the same male who has had the injuries.

"As a result of the injuries, an air ambulance was requested to take him to hospital."

The ECHO contacted North West Ambulance Service for comment.
