Candidates need to have experience in turf maintenance and preparation, with relevant qualifications in sports horticulture.

Anyone interested in applying also needs to have experience operating the machinery needed to tend to the course, with a valid driving licence.

The role would involve evening and weekend work when required, with the contract offered on a permanent basis.

If the grounds person role doesn't sound like your ideal job, there is also a vacancy for a gardener with the Jockey Club.

An online listing for the role says: "As a hands-on gardener, you will maintain the estate to a high standard, and be passionate, enthused and knowledgeable about the planting opportunities available.

"This role includes a range of practical horticultural tasks to develop and enhance the estate, and contribute to the development of the racecourse presentation."

The successful candidate would be tasked with making sure the Aintree estate is perfectly presented by looking after the trees, hedges, plants and lawns that fill the site.

Soft landscaping, leaf clearing and weeding would also be some of the day-to-day tasks involved with this outdoor role.

Applicants need to have the relevant gardening skills and qualifications, with a strong knowledge of plants and the ability to use tractors and chainsaws.
