Ainsley Maitland-Niles sends clear transfer message amid Arsenal exit talk

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has sent a defiant message over his Arsenal future after helping his side lift the FA Community Shield at Wembley.

According to recent reports, the Gunners Academy graduate looks set to be up for sale this summer in a bid to raise funds for the club.

While there had also been a suggestion that Maitland-Niles wanted to leave on account of not getting game time in midfield.

But speaking after his side’s penalty shootout win over Liverpool at Wembley, the 23-year-old made his position clear.

“I am an Arsenal player until I am told otherwise,” he told BT Sport after the game.

“My heart is in the club and whilst I am here I am going to give 100 percent all the time. So that is that.”

Before adding on his side’s win: “It is a special moment. “The first time I have ever played on my birthday and playing at Wembley and fought for another title and another cup for the club.

“We brought it home today and it is a fantastic feeling that this group of boys have proved something last season and keep going onto this season.”

Speaking on Maitland-Niles' future last week, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said: “We are reading a lot of news about our players which is not bad that other clubs want him but with Ainsley, he's a player that I've said since I joined that I really like.

"The best way to show that is that I have played him in the most important games of the season and he responded really well, so that's where we are with the player."
