AIM Independent Music Awards – Gerry Cinnamon up for best Breakthrough Act award

Gerry Cinnamon has been shortlisted for an independent music award.

Fresh off a barn-storming performance at TRNSMT, the singer is up for the UK Independent Breakthrough Act category at this year's AIM Independent Music Awards in London.

The Castlemilk hero is being pitted against London act Black Midi, new-wave jazz outfit Ezra Collective, Bristol punk rockers Idles and singer Jade Bird.

It comes after Cinnamon was nominated among the Awards' best live act nominees last week.

Championing industry-leading creativity, innovation and performance from across the independent music community, the glitzy ceremony at the Camden Roundhouse this September is set to feature iconic guitarist and former Smiths member Johnny Marr and is hosted by radio royalty Lauren Laverne.

Past winners at the event have included Wolf Alice, London Grammar, Stormzy, Adele and The Prodigy.

So we can't wait to see big Gerry's name up there!

You can cast your vote here before July 31. Find out more on the Aim Awards Facebook page.
