PORTLAND, Ore. _ An encouraging sign: Steve Kerr attended the Warriors shootaround on Monday morning in Portland, Ore. When it opened to reporters, he wasn't doing much _ sitting on the sideline, chatting with trainer Chelsea Lane before exiting about 15 minutes later _ but at least he was feeling well enough to leave his hotel room.
In his place, Mike Brown, the interim head coach for Game 4 on Monday night and possibly beyond, spoke with reporters.
Brown updated the status of Kevin Durant, Shaun Livingston and Matt Barnes _ all still questionable _ warned of the Blazers' likely desperation and answered questions about his comfort level heading into a second game in Kerr's place.
"The more you do this, the more comfortable you feel," Brown said. "If you have a little bit of success each time, the group feels a little better."
Brown said Kerr has continually consulted him during this process and the two were likely to go over the gameplan after shootaround.
"Sometimes I hate saying this about the organization, ownership, management, even Steve because it sounds so cliche or I'm making stuff up," Brown said. "But this is really a terrific group, a terrific group of people first. They've helped me a ton. I didn't feel like I had to go win them over, I just felt like I wanted to be a part of getting this done and they felt the same."
