Ailing Bihar governor Phagu Chauhan airlifted to Delhi

PATNA: Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan was on Friday airlifted to Delhi by a special air ambulance after a certain level of deterioration in his health condition. He has been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

"The governor is currently undergoing treatment at the AIIMS-Delhi where a team of doctors are overseeing his health condition. He is stable now," the ADC to the governor Major Dhiraj Bisht told TOI over phone.

The governor is currently under observation of a team of doctors, Bisht said.

Sources in the Raj Bhavan said, the 74-year-old Chauhan has been suffering from mild fever for the last six to seven days and he has been taking medicines at the advice of doctors. However, the governor was rushed to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science (IGIMS), Patna on Thursday after he complained of high fever and became semi unconscious.

At the IGIMS, the governor went through a thorough check-up. After the check-up, doctors informed his attendants that Chauhan was suffering from urinary tract infection (UTI) and high fever caused due to the UTI.

Dr Manish Mandal, the superintendent of IGIMS, told reporters that the doctors attending the governor detected infection in his urinary tract.

Sources in the Raj Bhavan said, the governor was airlifted to Delhi at the advice of the attending doctors at the IGIMS.
