Romelda Aiken-George has bounced back from a poor shooting display to lead the West Coast Fever to a crushing 69-50 win Super Netball win over the Giants in Perth.
In front of a roaring home crowd at RAC Arena on Sunday, towering Jamaican Aiken-George nailed 53 goals from 61 attempts to improve the Fever's season record to 2-1.
It was a marked improvement from a week earlier, when Aiken-George shot an inaccurate 29 goals from 37 attempts in a 66-53 loss to the unbeaten Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Fever goal keeper Kadie-Ann Dehaney was also crucial with eight gains.
Her intense defensive efforts led to the early benching of Giants goal shooter Lucy Austin.
"That sums it up - menace," Dehaney said of her performance.
"On my card that Dan (coach Dan Ryan) gave to me, it says 'menace, be a menace today'."
Fever goal attack Alice Teague-Neeld racked up a whopping 60 feeds and 32 goal assists.
"It's just my job to do that," Teague-Neeld told Fox Sports.
"We've got the likes of Romelda at the back, with Sasha (Glasgow) sweeping the front, so I've got great shooters to feed."
Aiken-George's 53-goal haul matched her Super Netball career high.
Giants goal shooter Matisse Letherbarrow shot 17-of-18 goals to go with six Super Shots.
Star Giants defender Jodi-Ann Ward made a successful return from a torn ACL, tallying three gains in limited court time.
"It's just so exciting and so awesome for Jodi-Ann to get back out on the court. She's a superstar," Giants defender Jane Watson said.
But the result left the Giants struggling with a 0-3 record, leaving their finals hopes on thin ice already.
The opening quarter was a topsy-turvy affair.
The Fever's 9-3 lead evaporated in the blink of an eye, but some hot shooting from Aiken-George helped the home side pull away again to take an 18-11 lead into quarter-time.
The scoreline read 30-16 late in the second quarter when Giants coach Nerida Stewart called a time-out to give her team a spray.
"All of us out on this court are not getting the job done," Stewart said.
"We sat there and watched the person with the ball, and only one person is offering. That is not this level of netball."
The Fever entered the halftime break with a dominant 33-19 advantage, and it was effectively game over by midway through the third as the margin swelled to 21 goals.
