Ten-man St Joseph's won the FA Sunday Cup in dramatic fashion as Ryan Blake sealed a 3-2 win deep into stoppage time.
Lewis Hassan scored for Aigburth late on to make it 2-2, although St Joseph's were able to snatch the title in injury time through Blake.
Patrick McCafferty cancelled out Stephen Hoy's opener for the Arms in the first half before the game exploded into life in the closing stages.
Arran Moore's side were looking to join an exclusive group of teams from Liverpool in winning the National Cup but fell short in the showpiece match. The win for the London club ended a run of three straight final defeats, etching their name on the trophy for the first time since 1996.
Aigburth Arms took the lead through defender Hoy after Jamie Head parried Conor Millington's free-kick but the defender was quickest on the follow up to fire into the roof of the net.
The Luton-based side came close through Jermaine Hall but Luke Denton made a crucial interception to deny a tap-in. Ryan Neurfville then left the crossbar shaking after unleashing a ferocious volley which cannoned off the woodwork.
However, they dragged themselves level through McCafferty when he ghosted behind the Arms backline leaving Philly Thompson rooted to the spot and volleying low into the back of the net.
Moore's side looked to restore the lead and had a flurry of chances before the break through Owen Hough, Millington and Elliott Hughes but St Joe's survived after Head parried Millington's deflected effort and the follow-up was headed over.
Thompson sprung into action after the restart as he was forced to tip over Watkins' effort from outside the box.
And shortly before the hour mark, St Joe's were in front as the midfielder fired into the bottom corner from Blake's cutback.
St Joe's almost had a third through Neurfville but the Aigburth Arms goalkeeper saved well with his feet. They continued to probe the Liverpudlians' goal as Blake raced through on goal but could only steer his effort wide. Thompson was on hand to frustrate the opposition again when he clawed away Hall's deflected effort.
With six minutes added, Aigburth Arms were awarded a penalty following a handball on the line by Briggs. Hassan's effort was saved before he followed up looping his volley home.
And with the game minutes away from extra-time, Blake raced through and fired into the bottom corner to send their travelling contingent into raptures.
