Aides 'had sex' in 10 Downing Street party night before Duke of Edinburgh's funeral, reports say

It has been reported that some of Boris Johnson's aides had sex at a 10 Downing Street party during lockdown the night before the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.

The event allegedly occurred on April 16, 2021 with a number of witnesses reporting that two individual couples were getting intimate when the rest of the country was in lockdown, the Times reports. At the time, laws were enforced that didn't allow people to socialise indoors with anyone outside their households unless it was for work-related reasons.

The report claims that aides and officials were partying at Number 10 until well past 4am. One couple were allegedly seen "feeling each other up" in a kitchen before heading into a room - they were supposedly later seen coming out "flustered".

Meanwhile, another couple was allegedly spotted sneaking into an office "with the lights off". It comes after an investigation into a series of Number 10 parties were carried out by the Metropolitan police in 'Operation Hillman'

As a result, Mr Johnson, his wife Carrie, and Rishi Sunak were issued fixed penalty notices for breaking lockdown rules. It was reported that 30 people moved a party to Downing Street's garden after two separate gatherings took place on April Evening.

However, Boris Johnson was reported to not have been in attendance at the event. A spokesperson for the former Prime Minister told ITV: “During the COVID-19 pandemic, Boris Johnson led our country through its most dangerous peacetime crisis in living memory…during a 24/7 national emergency, he worked constantly to ensure the government did everything possible in its power to save lives and protect livelihoods."

The former prime minister is currently part of the privilege committee's investigation into the Downing Street parties. As part of the process, public evidence sessions will take place at some point early in the year and will see Boris Johnson stand before them.

The new revelations could make his appearance all the more difficult.
