Aiden McGeady included in PFA's League One Team of the Year

Aiden McGeady has been named in the PFA League One Team of the Year.

The Republic of Ireland winger is Sunderland's sole representative in the divisional XI, which is voted for by fellow professionals.

McGeady has been in outstanding for the Black Cats, scoring 11 goals in 33 league appearances, along with three goals in five appearances in cup competitions.

This has been the most prolific season in McGeady's career, which has also included stints at Celtic, Spartak Moscow, and Everton, along with loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End.

The 33-year-old has also contributed five assists in the league.

McGeady is joined in the XI by Luton Town's James Collins and James Justin, Barnsley's Adam Davies, Dimitri Cavare, Ethan Pinnock, Adam Mowatt, and Kieffer Moore, Portsmouth's Matthew Clarke and Jamal Lowe, and Doncaster Rovers' John Marquis.

The 2019 PFA Awards will be held at the Grosvenor House, London on April 28.

McGeady was also one of three men - alongside James Collins and John Marquis - shortlisted for the EFL's League One Player of the Year award, which was ultimately won by Collins at the beginning of the month.

And McGeady was included in the EFL's own League One Team of the Year which was announced at the end of March.
