Aiden McGeady dismisses questions on future of Hibs boss Lee Johnson after Motherwell away victory

Hibs winger Aiden McGeady avoided answering questions on the future of boss Lee Johnson, despite the Edinburgh side securing a much needed victory away at Motherwell yesterday.

Johnson has been under scrutiny has been under fire after an unconvincing start in the hot seat at Easter Road with the Hibees currently sitting in seventh place in the Premiership standings. The Leith side were humiliated in the 3-0 defeat to city rivals Hearts at Tynecastle last week, with manager Johnson having some harsh words for his own players after the game.

A hat-trick from Kevin Nisbet inspired Hibs to a 3-2 win against Motherwell at Fir Park yesterday, which was only their second victory in the last 11 Premiership matches. 36-year old McGeady was quizzed about the ongoing situation surrounding boss Johnson, but did not want to be drawn on the issue, instead switching the focus to his own performance as well as the team's.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the win at Motherwell, he said: "It’s not my job to decide whether the manager is given time or not. I’m just a player, we just go out there and play as well as we can, get the three points, play to the best of our abilities.

"Obviously, it’s the manager’s job to get the best out the players he’s got. I’ll leave that down to other people to make decisions.

"It’s got nothing to do with me. I’ll just try and do my job. Score, lay on goals, Nizzy did his job, scored a hat-trick. I’ll just leave it at that I think."

Hibs will have the chance to make it back-to-back wins in the league for the first time since October, when they welcome Liam Fox's Dundee United to Easter Road on Saturday.
