Amar Dubey, an aide of wanted accused who allegedly orchestrated the killings of eight policemen in Kanpur, was shot dead in an alleged encounter early on Wednesday, police said.

Amar was killed by the Uttar Pradesh STF and local police in Hamirpur’s Maudaha police station area, said Prashant Kumar, ADG Law and Order, U.P.
Hamirpur is a district in Bundelkhand and Maudaha is roughly 60 km from Chaubeypur in Kanpur.

Amar was among the 18 persons linked to Vikas on whom the U.P. police declared a bounty of ₹25,000 each for allegedly killing eight policemen in Bikru village on the intervening night of July 2 and 3.
Amar was considered close to Vikas, who is still out of police reach and has a bounty of ₹2.5 lakh on his head.
The police have so far arrested four persons linked to Vikas, including his domestic help and his wife, while three persons, including Amar and Prem Kumar Pandey, a distant maternal uncle of Vikas, have been killed in alleged encounters.
