Aidan Wilson leaves Rangers on-loan as he seals switch to Edinburgh City

Rangers defender Aidan Wilson has completed an initial six-month loan move to Edinburgh City.

The 20-year-old centre-back has joined the League Two side as he continues his recovery from a serious injury.

Wilson made his senior Rangers debut in 2017 but has since spent time with Dumbarton and Forfar.

He will now spend a short spell in the capital under boss James McDonough.

McDonough revealed the club have a good relationship with the Ibrox academy, built on previous loan spells for Matthew Shiels and Aidan McAdams.

And the City boss now hopes Wilson can force his way into his defence.

“I have been in close contact with Rangers and they have been fantastic to deal with when we signed Matthew Shiels and Aidan McAdams," he told the club website .

"When I heard Wilson was available I thought he would do well for us and add depth to an area of the team that we maybe lack a little competition.

"He will need to do well to break into the team though as we have defended extremely well in the last two matches.

"Aidan is recovering from injury right now so first we need to get him back to full fitness then it’s up to him to fight for the jersey.”

City currently sit second in League Two, three points behind leaders Cove Rangers after seven games.
