A player for Celtic FC has joined in tributes to a teenager that was killed in a hit and run in Glasgow's west end last weekend.

Aidan, 18, died after he as struck by a car at 12.20am on Saturday morning on Crow Road in the Jordanhill area of the city.

He was due to move to Dundee to begin university next Saturday. His family have paid a moving tribute to him, saying it is 'very cruel that he has been robbed of his life in this way'.

Celtic player Stephen Welsh travelled to the scene earlier today where flowers and scarves have been left in tribute to the 18-year-old on Crow Road.

The defender presented a Celtic jersey signed by members of the first team.

A friend of Aidan's tweeted: "Hats off to Stephen Welsh. What a role model this guy is to all people taking the time out his day to come down and lay scarves and T-shirt’s.

"I know how much Pilky would have loved this, a lovely gesture to make and one that won’t be forgotten. Only One Aidan Pilkington RIP."

We reported earlier how the headteacher of Hyndland Secondary School also shared a touching tribute to Aidan.
