Aidan O'Shea defiantly responds to Mayo criticism following All-Ireland final defeat

Aidan O'Shea says Mayo will pick themselves up and go again next year following their latest All-Ireland final defeat.

The Westerners were fancied by many to end 70 years of hurt this year after beating Dublin in the semi-finals of the Championship, but they were defeated by 2-14 to 0-15 against Tyrone in the decider.

O'Shea lined out for his club Breaffy against The Neale on Sunday as he came up against his Mayo teammate Tommy Conroy.

The 31-year-old came in for some criticism following that All-Ireland final defeat, with Joe Brolly saying he was a "protected captain who does not lead and never will".

But O'Shea said the criticism is not something he pays much attention to.

He told TG4 after Sunday's game: "When we win, when we lose, it's not something I pay too much attention to.

"I've been off the grid for the last couple of weeks. When you lose, everything is wrong; when you win, everything is right. Obviously, there's a balance every time you play.

"We were disappointed a couple of weeks ago. We've got to learn and move on. Seeing the likes of Tommy (Conroy) playing here today, you see the talent that's in the county, no doubt, we'll pick up and go again next year.

"That's what we'll do, that's what we've always done."
