AI picks Fraser Forster among Celtic's greatest ever starting XI

Celtic have many greats in their illustrious history as a football club.

From Billy McNeill to Jimmy Johnstone, and Scott Brown to Virgil Van Dijk, there have been numerous top-class footballers to have pulled on the green and white hoops over the years.

But what is the greatest-ever Celtic starting XI?

Of course, this is very much a subjective topic. Every fan of the club will have their own views based on their favorite players.

However, according to artificial intelligence, this list of eleven players below makes up the Hoops' best-ever team.

We asked ChatGPT the simple question: "What is the best dream all-time Celtic starting XI?"

The website, an AI-powered language model developed by OpenAI, reckons Fraser Forster is Celtic's greatest goalkeeper. Perhaps a controversial pick, but the Englishman was a standout during his separate spells in Glasgow.

McNeill rightfully takes his place at the heart of the defence having lifted the 1967 European Cup with the club. Of course, he famously captained and managed the team.

He is partnered at the back with Paul Elliot, with Tommy Gemmell at left-back and Danny McGrain unsurprisingly in on the right.

In the engine room, fans' favourite Paul McStay takes his place alongside Lubo Moravcik, who is on the more modern side of the team. On the wings, Jimmy Johnstone and Bobby Lennox are rightfully named as the club's best attackers from the flanks.

It is little surprise that Kenny Dalglish and Henrik Larsson have been selected as Celtic's two best-ever strikers to spearhead the attack. The pair have well over 280 goals between them from their times at Parkhead.

Celtic's all-star XI (4-4-2): Forster; McGrain, McNeill, Elliot, Gemmell; Johnstone, Moravcik, McStay, Lennox; Dalglish, Larsson.
