Perth Glory coach Adam Griffiths has delivered yet another classic press conference, with his post-match interview including his inner thoughts about artificial intelligence, an insight into a text message from his wife, and how a sponsor's leniency helped him mastermind a famous victory.
Glory produced a huge boilover on Sunday when a Tom Lawrence hat-trick inspired them to a 3-1 win over Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
It marked Glory's fourth win under Griffiths, who was thrust into the hot seat following the axing of David Zdrilic in the wake of the 4-0 loss to City in round two.
Glory have become unrecognisable under Griffiths, with the back-to-back wooden spooners now oozing confidence and swagger.
Griffiths' interviews have also become must-watch affairs.
He first grabbed the headlines when his 10-man Glory held on for a 1-0 win over Western Sydney on December 5.
Griffiths, who was fighting to become Glory's permanent coach at the time, led the reporters in the room to believe he was referring to himself as an experienced mountain goat, before declaring at the end of his spiel that he was actually a lion.
The 46-year-old was at it again on Sunday night following the 3-1 win over Melbourne City.
In an interview that lasted a tad over seven minutes, a gum-chewing Griffiths, accompanied by his trusty tea, combined a series of one-word answers with weird and wonderful off-topic tangents.
The first question put to Griffiths was about what he believed was the key to victory.
"Brightside Live. Exceptional sponsor. They said I didn't have to wear my shirt today," a suited-up Griffiths said while casually chewing his gum.
Glory had lost their past four games to City by an aggregate of 18-0, with one of those losses being an 8-0 embarrassment.
When asked about that recent history, Griffiths made it clear what he thought about stats, and also AI for that matter.
"No, we didn't even look at stats. There's too much data in the world. AI just wants to suck it all up, spit it all out," Griffiths said.
"I don't care about stats anymore. AI can never replace us, because we have emotion and feeling, OK?
"So that's the No.1 thing we delivered today - emotion and feeling, a clear message."
Clear messaging has been a theme for Griffiths since taking over.
"Before Christmas, they went for a Christmas party, I said, 'Don't drink'. That was pretty clear," he deadpanned.
Later in the press conference, a journalist asked about the enthusiasm Griffiths has infused in his players following such a lean period for the club in recent years.
The question lasted 23 seconds - clearly over the limit for Griffiths.
"Yeah, sorry, I just lost you. I lost you," he said apologetically and slightly bemused.
It was at this point Griffiths' phone vibrated.
"Sorry, my wife's messaging me," he informed the press pack, before proceeding to read out what the text said.
"'Congratulations gorgeous, love you' ... I love you too babe."
Glory are back in action on Friday night when they take on Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park.
No matter what the result, Griffiths' post-match press conference will be a must-watch affair if recent history is anything to go by.
