Ahmedabad: Two held with stolen saris, cholis worth Rs 2 lakh

AHMEDABAD: The city crime branch on Monday nabbed two persons for allegedly stealing saris and cholis worth Rs 1.81 lakh. According to the city crime branch sources, Kuldeep Parmar, 25 and Vivek Rathod, 31, both residents of Mahajaniavaas in Naroda Patia area, were held under the charges of theft.

An officer of the crime branch said that they got an input that two men were standing at Mahajaniavaas to sell off those saris. When police caught them, 49 saris and three cholis worth Rs 1.81 lakh were found from them.

They told the cops that they stole the saris from the luggage compartments of private buses, which were parked near Naroda Patia. Most of the buses were moving from Surat to Rajasthan. The accused were earlier involved in three cases of robbery which were registered at Odhav and Naroda police stations and one case of theft was registered with Navrangpura Police.
