Ahmedabad: Three held for stealing card, drawing Rs 40,000

AHMEDABAD: Three people were arrested for stealing an Isanpur resident’s debit card and using it to withdraw cash from ATMs.

Isanpur police said that the three arrested also confessed to withdrawing cash over Rs 1 lakh in four different incidents including two in Isanpur, one in Kagadapith and Madhupura.

Complainant Hira Koshti told police, “On July 25, I went to withdraw money from the ATM but realised that I was unable to carry out the transaction. I was approached by a person who offered to help me with the problem. He asked me for my pin number and helped me out. However, Rs 40,000 was withdrawn from my account later.”

She filed a complaint with the police. The cops searched for CCTV footage and tracked the person who offered to help Koshti. The cops identified him as Shyam alias Dholu Rathod, a 23-year-old resident of Meghaninagar. The cops said that Shyam had been caught in a similar incident earlier, too.

During surveillance, the cops arrested Shyam and his accomplices Samsuddinkhan alias Lambu Mansuri (30) and Satish Rathod (25).
