Ahmedabad records 5.6mm rainfall, more showers likely today

AHMEDABAD: The city got scant spells of rain on Monday with average 5.6mm rainfall. The cloudy weather, however, gave respite to the citizens from heat and humidity.

North (Memco, Naroda, Kotarpur) and South (Maninagar, Vatva) zones recorded maximum 7.5mm and 6.7mm rainfall, whereas western city parts recorded an average 2mm rainfall till 12pm. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast mentioned possibility of light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday for the city. The maximum temperature dipped to 28 degrees celsius, about 4 degrees lower than the normal.

For the state, it was third consecutive day of good rainfall, with 13 of 251 talukas recording more than 50mm rainfall, and 25 talukas recording 25-50mm rainfall. Petlad in Anand recorded 126mm rainfall, followed by Borsad in Anand (92mm), Dolvan in Tapi (89mm), Visavadar in Junagadh (80mm) and Khergam in Navsari (78mm).

On Tuesday, Valsad and Navsari districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall, whereas other districts may record light to moderate showers. The state has so far received 32.5% of the seasonal rain where south Gujarat has received highest 35% and east-central region has received lowest 30% rainfall.
