AHMEDABAD: On Friday, Ahmedabad was the hottest spot in Gujarat with maximum temperature touching 43.6°C. It was 1.7 degrees higher than the normal. The minimum temperature was 1.9 degrees higher at 29°C.
The change is primarily due to south-westerly wind direction which brought in moisture and cooler winds compared to north-westerly winds, said Met department officials.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the maximum temperature on Saturday is likely to be around 42°C. ‘No large change in maximum temperatures during next 24 hours, thereafter fall by 2-3 degrees during subsequent 4 days very likely,’ the forecast said.
State capital Gandhinagar was the second hottest at 43°C, followed by Rajkot at 42.9°C, and Surendranagar at 42.8°C.
