Ahmedabad: ICSI to change Company Secretaries curriculum next year

AHMEDABAD: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is in the process of changing its curriculum for the company secretary course. The change is likely to be implemented from 2023. ICSI president Devendra Deshpande, who visited Ahmedabad on Saturday to participate in various events held by the Ahmedabad chapter of the ICSI, said that under the New Education Policy (NEP) the entire CS curriculum is being changed from next year.

The new curriculum is being designed keeping in mind the need to focus on skill development which will enable students to get jobs internationally. The official said that the ICSI has studied the NEP for a year and the changes are being made after experts offered their analyses. He said that the new curriculum will be made available for public review from July 16 and after accommodating suggestions, the final curriculum will come into effect from June 2023.

Deshpande said that the new curriculum will have options to select papers so that students can pursue specializations. The ICSI has requested the University Grants Commission to allow company secretaries with 10 years’ professional experience to teach at CS colleges.
