Ahmedabad: 10-fold rise in post-Covid disorders after second wave compared to first, say experts

Ahmedabad: The stress from Covid-19 is causing multiple long-term issues among recovered patients, said city-based experts. Symptoms for these long-term impacts include anything from insomnia to breathing difficulties and weakened muscles to slurred speech, they added. “We are experiencing about 10-fold rise in the post-Covid disorders this year after second wave compared to the first one we experienced in 2020. The patients often come with complaints of anxiety, stress, body ache, muscle weakness, chronic back pain, respiratory issues, digestive problems and speech-related issues to name a few,” said Dr Niraj Vasavada, director of newly-inaugurated Shalby Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (SIRS).
