'Ahead of schedule!' - Arsenal fans go wild over Gabriel Martinelli training video

Arsenal supporters have been reacting to footage of Gabriel Martinelli looking red-hot in some shooting drills.

Martinelli's last game for the Gunners was way back in March - as Mikel Arteta's side beat Portsmouth in the FA Cup.

The 19-year-old played 90 minutes in that game, but after the match, the Brazilian forward suffered a cartilage problem in his left knee - which required surgery. The surgery happened in June, and after a long time out of action, the teenager seems to be nearing his return.

Martinelli was in a knee brace in June, and wasn't expected to return to training for the whole of 2020 - however, new videos would suggest that the highly-rated youngster is ahead of schedule.

In October, Martinelli said this to Arsenal's official website : “After an injury like this you are kind of scared to force the knee again but the past couple of weeks it has been fine and soon I can start training with the ball.

“I think we have an excellent squad and along with Mikel’s forward thinking and winning mentality we can carry on doing well. We are playing well and training well, everyone wants to win and we are all giving everything. I believe this season is very promising. We won trophies last season and I believe we can win this season again and also qualify for the Champions League.”

Now, as we approach the final month of 2020 a video has surfaced of Martinelli taking part in some shooting drills at London Colney and the teenager looks very sharp. Understandably, Arsenal supporters have been desperate for Martinelli to return from his serious injury, and this latest video has them very excited.

Arsenal will be without the Brazilian for their next game - a home match against Wolves on Sunday evening.

The Gunners have not been victorious in back-to-back Premier League games after a defeat to Aston Villa and then a goalless draw at Leeds United last weekend.

It's then another Europa League game for Arteta's side - against Rapid Vienna at the Emirates Stadium - followed by the north London derby against Tottenham.
