Ahead of free agency, Cam Newton makes it clear he’s putting in work

The 2021 offseason will be wild for a myriad of reasons.

Russell Wilson could potentially leave the Seattle Seahawks, Deshaun Watson refuses to stay with the Houston Texans and it feels like there’s only a handful of secure quarterback situations league-wide. One of those extremely shaky scenarios is playing out with the New England Patriots, who don’t appear to have any real grip on their starter for next season.

Cam Newton signed last year on a one-year deal and many people initially thought he was as good as gone from Foxborough. There’s been rumors heating up that the 31-year-old is talking with the Patriots and could even stay with the team and have another shot with an upgraded roster.

Regardless how it plays out, Newton is a free agent and he wants teams to know he’s ready to go.

“Let me tell you something. When it comes to me, I’m not your conventional human being,” Newton said on Instagram on Thursday. “I think different, I act different and I’ve came to grips to say I am different. I don’t need your validation. Never needed your validation. But one thing about me: I’m gonna figure it out, baby, and I’m gonna (expletive) work.”

Because of his knowledge of the playbook along with a potentially upgraded roster, it wouldn’t be a terrible idea for either party.
