Aguero starts, Sterling benched - Man City line up fans want to see vs Porto

Manchester City fans want Sergio Aguero start in the Champions League vs Porto, but not Raheem Sterling.

City are opening their Champions League campaign at home to the Portuguese champions, having come off the back of the weekend's hard-fought win over Arsenal in the Premier League.

That game saw Sergio Aguero return from injury, playing for the first time in three months, and the Argentine is the only fit striker available to Pep Guardiola.

It might be wise to rest Aguero, even though this is the Champions League, in order to manage his return carefully, but when fans picked their strongest starting XI's on the MEN's team selector widget, the striker was picked to lead the line.

Surprisingly, fans want to see Raheem Sterling dropped, with summer signing Ferran Torres coming in on the right wing opposite Riyad Mahrez.

With Kevin De Bruyne out, an experienced midfield pairing of Ilkay Gundoga and Bernardo Silva was the top choice of supporters, with Rodri preferred to Fernandinho in defensive midfield.

And a more conventional formation would see Joao Cancelo used at left-back - where he impressed in two end-of-season games in this competition earlier this year - rather than the midfield role he played against Arsenal.

Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake are preferred by fans to complete the back four, with Ederson in goal.

Man City most popular team to face Porto: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Ake, Cancelo; Rodri, Gundogan, Bernardo; Mahrez, Torres, Aguero.
