AMBALA: Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said that the state government will give jobs to Agniveers with guarantee after completion of their four year service.
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Charuni hit back at Khattar’s statement and termed his assurance as "false".
In his tweet, CM Khattar said, "I declare that under 'Agnipath Yojana', Agniveers who come back after serving the country for 4 years will be given jobs in Haryana Government with guarantee."
Hitting at Khattar’s statement, BKU Charuni national president Gurnam Singh Charuni tweeted, "Manohar Lal Khattar Ji should have some shame. Why are you fooling the country by giving false assurance to the youth of the country and Haryana on soldier recruitment retirement; 55,000 soldiers retire every year in the country, first give employment to them! Only 5% of retired soldiers get jobs!"
Charuni also released a video and gave a call to representatives of different bodies to gather at Sampla on June 22, to decide on future course of plan and action to continue “this andolan (agitation) peacefully” against the Agnipath Scheme.
In his video, Charuni said, "Khattar Sahib has released another new jumla (false promise) as he is specialist in releasing the same and he fools people. He (Khattar) said that Agniveers who complete their service will be given jobs by the government. It is a big fraud that he said that every year 50,000 soldiers retire in our country and hardly 5% get jobs. First they should be given jobs. Haryana is number one in unemployment. Hardly any jobs are given as all the departments have been privatised."
"When Agniveers will not be considered ex-servicemen then in which quota the government is going to give them jobs? No notification has been issued in this regard. Reservation is already 50% and it cannot be increased", said Charuni.
Charuni further added, "Khattar Sahib, you should not think of people as fools as you are a responsible person and a chief minister of the state. It does not suit your personality that you mislead people with such statements. It is the duty of the government to give the right direction to people. Such statements should be given which can be fulfilled."
Charuni said they oppose such statements and appealed to people to not come in "this allurement".
Charuni went on to say that, "This scheme is only for providing cheap and trained security guards to the companies. They can establish a company, in which the youths (Agniveers) will be recruited and through the same, different companies will be provided the security. They will establish a parallel private force and depute this force to beat the people who do andolan against some company, factory, etc."
