Agnipath protests: Bihar BJP chief claims hooligans attacked his house with intention of blowing it up

BAGAHA: An agitated crowd attacked the houses of deputy CM Renu Devi and BJP state president Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, and attacked the vehicle of BJP Vinay Bihari during the anti- Agnitpath scheme protests in West Champaran district on Friday.

The window panes of Renu Devi’s house at Supriya Road at Bettiah were broken due to the stone- pelting. House of BJP state president Dr Jaiswal was also attacked on hospital road. Besides, Jaiswal's petrol pump at Chhawni was also reportedly vandalized.

Later in the day, speaking to mediapersons at his residence, Jaiswal said not all in the mob were army- aspirants and his house was attacked with intention of blowing it up. He blamed the unrest on rumours against the new scheme of recruitment in armed forces.

“They mob was armed with Inflammatory substance, cylinder and petrol bombs. the incident could have been averted, had the police taken prompt action. Nevertheless, the attackers have been captured in the CCTV footage, " Jaiswal said.

The protests started in the morning after the agitating youth in group fanned out in different parts of the town and started damaging private and government properties. Bettiah SP Upendranath Verma and DDC Bettiah Anil Kumar with police force were seen patrolling in different areas and dispersing the mob.

A BJP office was vandalized by the protestors at Bagaha as well. They burnt tyres and blocked NH- 727.
