'Aggressive' group armed with 'poles and hurley sticks' storm Dublin Shopping Centre to 'attack rival gang' in Kilbarrack

An "aggressive" group of youths stormed a northside Shopping Centre on Saturday evening armed with weapons to "attack a rival gang" terrorising local kids, Dublin Live understands.

The group are said to have entered the Kilbarrack Shopping Centre with poles and hurley sticks in a bid to assault another gang from a nearby town who have been harassing youngsters in the area for the past two weeks.

The northside area has become engulfed by chaotic scenes this month with locals left fearing for their children's safety.

It is understood that the gang are also from north Dublin and have tried to launch attacks on youngsters in Kilbarrack allegedly using golf clubs with Gardai forced to increase their patrol in the area in recent weeks.

On Saturday evening, it is reported that as many as six individuals made their way to the Shopping Centre brandishing the weapons in a bid to hit two members of the rival gang who were there.

A spokeswoman for Gardai told Dublin Live: "We responded to reports of a public order incident at the retail premises yesterday.

"A number of individuals were observed acting aggressively on the premises.

She added: "Gardaí succeeded in separating the parties. No injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing."
